New Structure

The School of Business traditionally hosted 2 main programs: Accounting and Business Administration. In a response to market demand, in terms of employers and students, the Business Administration program has been reviewed and redirected to a professional level (HBO).

The main objective of the new program of Business Administration at a professional level is to provide the students with the necessary knowledge, skills and attitude to perform at an internationally recognized bachelor level. Upon successful completion of the program the student will receive the title of Bachelor of Applied Science in Business Administration.

The BA-program is competency-based. Competency-based education is directed to provide the students with the necessary knowledge, skills and attitude to be able to use them in an integrated way in complex professional situations. The development of the competences takes place as much as possible in an independent way. During the first years of the program, the development of the competences is intensively guided by the staff. Gradually the students become more responsible for their own educational process.

The main task of the program is to facilitate and coach the students during the developmental process of the required competences, so that after graduation they can operate independently in a starter’s position at professional bachelor level. After preparation and orientation in the first year (level 1), the students work on broadening and deepening of their competences in complex professional contexts during a more active, self-directed and constructive educational process (year 2/3, level 2). By the end of their study they are able to use all the acquired competences at a starter’s position in a specific professional field (level 3).

The BA-program is a 4 years full time professional bachelor program, of which about 60% covers the professional field of Business Administration and 40% is Major specific. The five Majors are:

  • International Business and Management Studies (IBMS)
  • Business Information Systems (BIS)
  • Financial Management (FM)
  • Human Resource and Communication Studies (HRCS)
  • Marketing Management (MM)

Aside from this new program the SEF also offers academic undergraduate degrees in

  • Accounting & Controlling, and
  • Business & Economics.
