A successful graduation ceremony of the University of Curaçao Dr. Moises da Costa Gomez
WILLEMSTAD - Last Friday, the University of Curacao Dr. Moises da Costa Gomez (UoC) handed over diplomas to 295 students. The graduation ceremony was attended by, among others, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, Mrs. Marilyn Alcalá-Wallé, members of the UoC Supervisory Board, members of the UoC student council, family members and friends of the graduates. A large crowd was present at this annual event of the University.
During the official ceremony, Rector Magnificus, Dr. Francis de Lanoy, informed that there were a total of 241 bachelor' and 54 master' students that graduated, spread over the five different faculties. The majority of graduates (76%) are women. The youngest student is 20 years old, while the oldest student is 69 years old. The students were from 14 different countries: Curaçao, Aruba, Bonaire, the Netherlands, St. Martin, Venezuela, Colombia, Surinam, the Dominican Republic, China, Jamaica, Guyana, Cuba and Barbados.
Of the graduates, 76% were from Curaçao and 24% were from the different countries.
The keynote speaker of the evening was Ms. Valerie Maria LL.M., graduate of the Faculty of Law. She related how the study at UoC (formerly UNA) was a huge stepping stone for her career.
After the official ceremony, the graduates, together with their family and friends celebrated the historic moment in their lives.
The registration for the new students will take place this year on Thursday 4 and Friday 5 July 2019 from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm in the auditorium of the UoC.
