Studying Finance, Tax and Advice at the UoC

Studying Finance, Tax and Advice at the UoC

The Finance, Tax and Advice (FTA) program prepares you to be able to give professional financial and tax advice to individuals and businesses. There is always a great need for experts in this field, given that financial services are one of the largest and most promising sectors in Curaçao and that tax law is a fairly complex area of law that affects every citizen and/or company.

Preparing you to become a professional financial and tax advisor implies, amongst other things, that this program helps you to develop good written and verbal communication skills. You will learn to reflect on your own actions and your personal learning, which enables you to adjust your approach. The program also encourages you to develop an entrepreneurial spirit.

You will be trained, based on a solid theoretical basis, in how to prepare financial and tax advice. Practical training is very important in this study and therefore you will practice a lot with practical cases in class and also work in the field by going on an internship twice.

FTA-professionals show due care and attention in their actions. They will ensure that their client (individual, entrepreneur or management of an organization) is informed in a timely and adequate manner. They demonstrate awareness of the social context in which they carry out their financial and tax role and will stand firm when dealing with ethical dilemmas that could play a role in the resolution of financial and/or tax issues.
